Preparation for the ZR6 Update


Before updating your ZR6, please make sure to have the following things done, and that you have all equipment necessary to perform the update.


Check that your Shifter VX Bridge Box is connected to your ZR6 Interface:

  • Use the port labeled INTERFACE on the Shifter VX Bridge Box
  • Use the port labeled CONTROLLER on the ZR6 Interface

Check that you have a Mini B USB cable for the update

  • The cable needs to be USB 2.0
  • It must support at least 480 Mbps of data

  • The updater software is NOT compatible with macOS!
  • You need a Windows computer to complete this update process

CRITICAL Before Starting the ZR6 Update


Before you begin the update, you must do the following three things:

  • Confirm that the USB cable is UNPLUGGED
  • Confirm that Detector Tools Pro is CLOSED.
  • Confirm that your vehicle ignition is OFF.


If your ZR6 is not keyed to turn on and off with your vehicle ignition, pull the PWR FUSE from the ZR6 Interface.


Update your ZR6


To update your ZR6, follow the steps below in this order:

  1. Connect the USB cable from the laptop/computer to the USB port on your ZR6 Interface
  2. Turn on the ignition (or plug in the PWR FUSE if you pulled that out.)
  3. Launch Detector Tools Pro
  4. DO NOT CLICK THE GREEN UPDATE BUTTON
  5. Look for the menu towards the upper left of the window. FILE, DEVICE, ABOUT.
  6. Click the DEVICE menu.
  7. Click on "Update All Software" to complete the update.
