Repairing the Bluetooth Connection on iPhone

Follow these steps to rebuild a Bluetooth connection between your radar detector and your iPhone. Please note that only iPhone 8 or later is supported for Drive Smarter.

  1. Go into the Settings for the iPhone itself.
  2. Go into Bluetooth settings, and look for your detector under My Devices.
  3. If there is a blue informational iconto the right, tap it and choose "Forget this device" and ensure that it removes the detector from My Devies.
  4. Go back to the main settings by tapping "< Back" at the upper-left.
  5. Scroll down in Settings, where it shows you the list of installed application on the phone.
  6. Locate either Drive Smarter or Escort Live and tap on it.
  7. Make sure that the "Bluetooth" option is toggled to green.
  8. Close the settings and launch into the app, and try the connection again.

If these steps do not work, return to Settings for the iPhone. Tap on General, then Software Updates. If there is a Software Update available, download and apply it. If your phone is up to date, reboot the phone and attempt the steps again.

Repairing the Bluetooth Connection on Android

Follow these steps to rebuild a Bluetooth connection between your radar detector and your Android.

  1. Shut down the detector.
  2. Go to the settings on your Android Phone.
  3. Go into the App Settings.
  4. Locate Drive Smarter.
  5. Locate and tap the Force Stop button. Tell it "OK".
  6. Locate the "Storage" setting in the list and tap on it.
  7. Locate and tap on the "Clear Cache" option. Note: Clicking "Clear Data" will do the same thing, but will also log you out and clear all permissions, basically treating the app as freshly-installed.
  8. Locate and tap on the "Back" button.
  9. Locate and tap on the "Open" button, or find the Drive Smarter icon on your phone and launch the app.
  10. Turn on the detector with 12V Power (using your SmartCord or however it's typically wired into the vehicle)
  11. Attempt to connect to the Max 360c MKII with Drive Smarter.

If this is still not working, repeat steps 1 through 7, but this time press the "Clear Data" option instead of "Clear Cache".

Note: If you have a VPN connected, you will want to disable the VPN and try connecting again.

If Bluetooth Is Still Not Working

If this still doesn't work, you may have the Bluetooth disabled on the detector. You'll need to follow your detector's manual to instructions on how to change settings as it can differ from model to model. Manuals may be found [HERE].

If the Bluetooth is already enabled, or enabling the Bluetooth on the detector doesn't work, try a firmware update. Instructions for updating the firmware for all supported devices can be found [HERE].
